More Seksan's Shangri La Photos

posted by FH2o

Since I have already found my Shangri La on the waters of Kuching; Seksan feels that I am deserving of more lovely photographs from his Tibet trip and accordingly sent me more!
But this time I have taken the liberty to add 'drop shadow' to them and arranged the two photos below into a montage. Enjoy. And 'enjoy' your work week ahead. Nay!

Seksan's Shangri-La

posted by FH2o

I received an email from Seksan this week:-

was wandering around tibet for the last 2 weeks

trying to track down the elusive shangrila

think i found something in a small tibetan village in yubeng

have to trek for hours by foot and mules at elevation close to 4000m to get there

exhausting but rather worthwhile

thinking of giving up landscape architecture to become a monk!

cheers

seksan

And Seksan has graciously agreed to share these amazing photos that he has taken there. Enjoy them and trusting that you'll find your Shangri-La this weekend; and if not then some day soon!

Paddlelution?

posted by FH2o

Mr Dennis Van Eijsden, journalist from Travelution magazine, Netherland, was in town and was assisted by Sarawak Tourism Board (who contacted us) in planning his visit around Kuching for his write-up and photo shoot session. Thanks to STB (thank you Gracie!) our rainforest kayaking adventure was part of the activities planned for him on the 26th September 2007.

With so many things to see and do in such a short stay here, Azmi and Dennis paddled non-stop from Bengoh to Kg Semadang in record time where he was immediately whisked away to what was planned for him next - a home stay at Anah Rais longhouse. Phew! Is this what you call paddlelution? Whatever lah.

Tuesday With Azmi (& Orang Utans!)

I should be posting this here but there's really no harm in repeating oneself. I suppose getting old does that to you. Hmmm.

Yesterday Azmi and Juri took care of our guests from Australia (Sharon,Phillip, Ellanie, Isabelle, Idoia & James) and the UK (Persephone and John from London) with a fun filled day of kayaking at Borneo Highlands followed by a visit to the Semengoh Wildlife Rehabilitation Center to look at the orang utans at feeding time in the afternoon.Human-utans!

"Don't let go too soon, but don't hang on too long."

Azmi took all the great photos here (and I arranged them into a montage) and they looked like they had fun and so did the orang utan! It's not exactly "Tuesdays with Morrie" but a day on the waters and later spent in the company of 'monkeys' do offer some lessons on life. Ah, well. Kayaking anyone?Ritchie the BIGGEST orang-utan at the sanctuary - do you wanna argue over that with him?

I’m Not A Plastic Bag AND This Is Not A Mooncake!

posted by FH2o

Spotted in Kenyalang Park, Kuching - "I'm NOT A Plastic Bag" and this is true even though they are not the 'real' stuff.

In this world - big is better and BIGGEST is the best? Whatever happened to our sense of proportion?

Celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth month in Chinese lunar calendar, the Moon Festival usually comes sometime between the second week of September and the second week of October; and this year it's celebrated today on Tuesday, 25th September 2007. And if you're working for a Chinese family owned business; you'll most likely get a half-day off today to celebrate this occasion.

Like most things these days, the meaning and significance of the celebration of traditional festival(s) is lost and distorted by the commercialization and sensationalism of it all. And the result can be hilarious. To be rich is glorious and everyone wants to be glamorous and cool especially the young and including the not-so-young but still want to be young forever ...

Anyway I was quite amused about the hoo-hah about people clamoring over each other worldwide to buy Anya Hindmarch’s environmental bag which are sold out and launches have to be cancelled at Beijing, Shanghai and Jakarta over public safety concerns. What a brilliant marketing idea and the public are taken hook, line and sinker; mocking our stupidity and insulting our intelligence. Now Everyone Can Own An Anya Hindmarch's Bag! I don’t understand the fuss as I do not see environmentally concerned queues forming to buy these ‘environmental bags’ at Petaling Street, KL or Kenyalang Park, Kuching. Duh!

So here's wishing everyone a Happy Mooncake Festival Celebration on this mid-Autumn day and enjoy your moon cake even if it’s shaped like a Nokia phone! Whatever lah.

Get this into your little skull - these people are queuing for fashion and not for the environment ...

Your Kayaking Photos!

posted by FH2o

I normally post most of my kayaking photos that I took and we burn them to CDs or send via email as a complimentary service to our guests taking our kayaking trips. We know that photographs capture precious memories of priceless moments of the time spent here. And our trips are highlights of their holidays and visit to Sarawak. However most of our guests are in Kuching for a day or two and most leave the next morning after taking our trip giving us no time to pass the CD(s) to them. And sending out photos via email to over a dozen people is slow and time consuming. There has to be better way to doing this …

Presenting - www.kayakphotos.blogspot.com “Your Kayaking Photos!” where we’ll post photographs of our guests having fun and adventure on our kayaking trips.

I’d just set it up after finding a really nice template that I like and will post photos (new as well as old) to it progressively as we have quite a number of photos and since last year quite a number of people had already taken our trips. Initially I’ll re-post my old kayaking posts (which will take me quite a while) from here. But it will eventually include all the photos we take on our trips – those by Azmi as well as by me. We respect the privacy of our guests and at their request; we will not post their photographs. But for those of you who have taken our trips - check out the month under Archives that you have done our trips to see your kayaking photos!

So www.kayakphotos.blogspot.com would purely feature photographs we have taken on our kayaking trips leaving www.fh2o.kuchingkayak.com purely as my personal blog (but don't worry I'll still post my kayaking photos and adventures here!) where I can post photos of skies and rant to my heart's content and www.kuchingkayak.com as our business website. I think things are better organized this way! Agree? Amen.

Why I'm Still Blogging 2 Years On

posted by FH2o

Kuching Holidays SunsetBeautiful Kuching Sunday Sunset, 23 September 2007

I spent a good part of the weekend at home tidying up the new template for this blog. It's all almost done except for the links which I'll finish off next week. This must have been the third for fourth time that I'd changed the template but I can't and usually don't try to remember or keep track of this sort of things as I am way too busy with my life and stuffs. I feel good about the look of my blog now as I am starting to feel a little stale with my previous one. I think it loads faster too with all the unnecessary extras that I had gradually added to my previous template over time.

And it also dawned me that it has been more than 2 years since I started blogging and a lot of water has passed under the bridge so to speak. I think I have changed and so has my blog but yet though much have changed, the fundamentals haven't - I still love what I do and it has become an 'easy' habit. I've not had any 'blogger's block' yet and the topics for my post just come me whenever I sit down in front of my notebook. I really do not have the luxury of spending too my time on my blog. I must admit that since early this year; I had not even been visiting other people's blogs - one of the reason I get much less comments to my posts these days. But the number of daily unique visitors have remained more or less the same hovering around the hundred mark. A big thank-you to you all for visiting. My blog still have plenty of nice (to me anyway) photos which I really love to take and share with others (and perhaps why I still get visitors!). And my picture taking has become natural and easy. I never have to 'force' any of the pictures I take and they seem to come naturally and I seem to be able to get good shots on a daily basis! I guess I must be pretty much in sync with the flow of life when it comes to this. Either that or I just have a good eye for beauty and an affinity with nature or just lucky or living in delusion that my photos are nice!
Kuching Kayaking: Fun on the waters while connecting with nature and the flow of life.

I still love my kayaking and that too has changed in that since I started Kuching Kayak Sdn Bhd in March 2006 as I am now sharing the beauty of the waters in Kuching with others and this year our business have more than doubled. I am truly blessed in that I can make my passion pay. With my kayaking business, my full time job as an architect and head of department in a main board public listed company and husband and father to 3 teenagers; I really have my hands full. So the above are the compelling reason(s) why I continue to blog so consistently for over 2 years now without getting stale, boring or burnt out - I hope!
KuchingFascinating sky and fascinating that I'm still blogging after 2 years!

Anyway of late due to my friend Justin, I am seriously thinking of monetizing my blog at the same time. I had experimented with it previously (rather clumsily I thought and with dismal results!) - mindful of course that nothing turns off regular readers then suddenly turning into a "money-face" blog. I find some adverts plain intrusive and darn annoying. It's a matter of finding a balance. After 2 years of blogging with no commercial intent (apart from obviously directly people to my kayaking trips website) or content no one can accuse me of selling my arse soul for a bit of money. It's actually not a bit of money as the top pro-bloggers rack in more than USD 10K and 20K each month! I find it fascinating that it is possible to make that much money from blogging. How on earth do they do that? There's a lot to learn and a lot to find out and that to me is quite interesting, fun and hopefully financially rewarding. I think I'll get there - eventually; even a quarter of the way is more than fine! But for now it's back to the grind and here's wishing you a productive week ahead! Thanks for visiting this blog - you folks are tops; now get back to your blady work before your boss catches you!

Less is More

posted by FH2o

It's kinda disheartening that your usual barber whom you always go to gives you a discount every time you visit him for a haircut as he has to spend less time and effort in doing so! *sigh*

On a more cheerful and brighter note, regular readers to my blog would have noticed that I have changed my template to one with less clutter. Hopefully it would load faster. Actually I had been meaning to do some 'spring cleaning' to my template but last night I just decided to use a new template and add in the things that I want and exclude those that had been there for historical reasons. I want to cut out the fat on my blog and also on myself! Hmm. I am still sticking to the blogger platform although I have been contemplating switching over to using Wordpress for a while now. I want to but have not found the time to learn how to do so yet. Any kind souls out there want to lend this unker a hand?

Anyway I spent a good part of last night working on my template which I picked up from Pannasmontata. This time it is a 3 columns design and I hope you like it. Your comments/feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for spending your time here and have a wonderful weekend.

Speedy Week

posted by FH2o

A fiery morning has broken in Kuching, 19 September 2007

On account of nearly entire day meetings everyday this week; the week has just sped past me. But not so fast that I didn't have time to look up at the sky once in a while, take in the fresh air and a few snap shots. I took these yesterday morning and it was only much later that I noticed the bird that has sped past by at the instant I pressed the shutter button. Trust that your work week did not leave you in the dust and if it did; shake it off and have a great weekend ahead. Now I really need a slow float down a rainforest river. Kayaking anyone?

Wild About Wild Durians

posted by FH2o

One of the variety of wild durians identified by their smaller size, longer (sharper) but softer thorns and deep rich unique color of their flesh.

As the regular readers of this blog knows - I am crazy about durians - which to me is the undisputed king of fruits! So you can imagine how my happiness index soared when I was in Miri last week to discover that it was the durian season there! We spotted several stalls on the drive to a delicious seafood dinner and I have to contain my excitement. Luckily my boss was a glutton a connoisseur of fine foods and we set off to look for durians after a full dinner much to the horrors shock of our other dinner guests who must think that Kuching people must be so depraved deprived. We are actually as it is still not the durian season yet.

We discovered that the durians that were in season are the of the 'wild' varieties which is quite unlike the normal durians in colour, taste and smell. When you take a bite you actually get a perfume fragrance! It is not as pungent as the common variety durians and the taste is actually quite different. Even to 'regular' durian lovers; it's not to everyone's tastes. These wild durians are quite unique to Borneo as they grow wild in the jungles here and are simply not available in West Malaysia or Singapore. They are truly natural organic fruits. So if you want to savor their unique taste and flavour - go and visit Miri now! Hmm. reason enough to find an excuse to visit Miri again!

Wild durians which are more expensive than regular durians but's worth every cent.
And holding a taste of heaven here on earth!

Head Shot

posted by FH2o

Stopped in my tracks by a beautiful Kuching sunset.

I was caught up in the moment taking the above from my car parked by the kerb (I frequently stopped my vehicle to take the pictures you see in this blog) and was about to take another shot when this guy sped past on his motorbike just as I clicked - and I got this instead!

Unintended head shot

And KH2o who was with me laughed her head off and think that this is a really cool shot! So I'm posting it here for you guys and for her.Trust that it brings a smile to your pretty/handsome face on a silly serious Wednesday - well at least for me as I'll be in a meeting with a room full of people some of whom are so full of themselves ... *sigh* And if they're reading this now - I'll probably get my head shot off! Whatever.

Sinful Miri Breakfast

posted by FH2o

*WARNING* This is a non-halah post; so first off - my apologies to any of my muslim readers who may find this post offensive in whatever manner. My apologies if this is so as this is certainly not intended to be. You may choose to leave now or risk puking ...

We arrived early on Thursday morning in Miri and my boss barked orders under muttered breath to the driver to immediately take us somewhere. I thought it was to an urgent meeting or a site visit at an ungodly hour but I like a man who knows how to take care of his stomach first as those of you who knows him can duly attest!. We ended up at a corner coffee shop somewhere in town called "WZT Cafe"; and since he seemed to know it very well, I let him do the ordering. And I am glad he did as it turned out to be the best "kway-chap" I'd ever had! You can't get this style of kway-chap here in Kuching and they do not even taste half as good. Can we deduce in warp logic that we are less sinful here? Or reflect on the fact why such a 'filthy' animal can taste so good? It's a prime example of how someone's meat can be another person's poison. Whatever.

A picture speak a thousand words - so take a look at the photo below while I wipe the saliva off my keyboards just thinking of this! Suddenly I am hungry and envious of the guys and gals who live in Miri and another reason why future visits there would be more joyful. And I really sound like a pig now. *sigh*
Certainly not something your friendly cardiologist would recommend for breakfast, lunch or dinner ... Duh!

Beautiful Little Girl @ Kg Semadang, Kuching

posted by FH2o

Beautiful sweet innocence captured @ Kg. Semadang, 15 September 2007

Our driver was late at the take-out at Kg Semadang, and so instead of just sitting there and wait, I decided that we'll take a stroll across the suspension bridge to have a look at the village. I also wanted to catch up with my friends Lars and Liza and on how their home-stay project is coming along.

On the way we stopped by this village shop and I ordered instant maggi mee with an egg which was certainly not prepared in an instant! So while waiting for my noodles, we looked at the photos in my camera which soon drew the attention of the children in the shop. And my attention was in turn drawn to this cute and beautiful little girl with such beautiful eyes and natural grace. I can imagine what an eye-turner and stunning girl she'll turn out to be when she grows up and hopefully not the kind that turns men suicidal when they decided to call it quits! Hmmm. But there was something else - her eyes seem to be a window to her calm and beautiful soul. Such inner sweetness and purity. Adorable.

I managed to catch up with Liza but Lars was away and we promised that we'll meet up for a meal the next time she and Lars are in Kuching.

Here's wishing you folks a beautiful week ahead - in your words, thoughts and actions! Be well.

You had chanced upon our Kuching Kayak website and this blog and was thrilled that there's more to do in Kuching than the usual boring and stale same-old same-old tourist 'attractions' offered by the local agents here, year in and year out.

Kiwi and Masters student (on nature conservation) Charlotte Fletcher was in town too for the 4th Borneo Tourism Conference 2007 and was staying at Singgahsana Lodge when she spotted our flyer there and being a keen (whitewater) kayaker decide to check us out as well and excitedly rang us the night before to sign up for the trip.

So on Saturday morning we disembark at Sg Abang, Bengoh but unfortunately Andy's frozen shoulder has not healed yet and Kim in his excitement has forgotten to dress for kayaking and decided to sit it out. As such HoSung You decided to only do a short portion of the trip and take-out at Kg Danu so that his fellow travellers would not have to wait too long for him.

F2Ho: Frequent Flyer Ho

posted by FH2o

Photograph of Kuching skies by Francis HoI'll be taking the first flight out from Kuching to Miri later and will be back in Kuching tomorrow evening.

Such is the demand and pressures on my time and attention that this would really be such a trying and stressful job if not for the fact that I'm darn good (*ahem*) at what I do and I'm lovin' it!

The icing of this job is that the frequent flying gives me a wonderful opportunity to take photographs of my favourite subject! What more can a man ask for (except perhaps for his own private jet?).

And at the frequency that I fly, I could perhaps call this blog F2Ho instead of FH2o! So put your tray table away, fasten your seat belt and have a wonderful flight with F2Ho. Cheers!

Eunice & Serene : A Kayaking Trip To Remember

Kuching Kayaking in Borneo HighlandsA kayaking trip through the rainforest of Borneo Highlands to remember
Kuching Kayaking Holidays through the rainforest of Borneo Highlands

Eunice Sung from Singapore and her friend Serene (both teachers) did not one but two of our kayaking trips in mid-June! They found out about and booked our trips on the internet. Unfortunately I was out of town then so Azmi took them out together with 2 other European ladies on that day.

Eunice was gracious enough to write to me after her trip expressing her thanks and gratitude to Azmi for taking such good care of them. She wrote to me again this week wondering what happened to me as in my laziness busyness, I had not replied to her letter in July enclosing some of the photos they had taken for us.

To apologies to her for such tardiness I’m sharing the wonderful photos that Eunice sent us that I had put together in a montage in Photoshop. Hi Eunice and Serene! Thanks for taking our trips and we're so glad that you enjoyed the kayaking experience with us!

Petaling Street : An Aftermath

posted by FH2o

Busy and popular Petaling Street, Kuala Lumpur. 9 September 2007

Due to the unavailability of hotel rooms in the Bukit Bintang area (which I understand is especially so over the weekends), I had to stay in Petaling Street as it was the only place in town which have hotel rooms available. I'd never stayed in Petaling Street before although I had visited Petaling Street eon years ago when I was working and living in Kuala Lumpur as an architect after graduating from Australia. There is now a high overhead canopy covering the street which keeps out most of the rain but not all of it (not much overhang) but lets in the light as well as the heat. Sometimes our designers forget that they are living in the tropics when they blindly ape designs from overseas.
What the vendors, locals and tourists alike left behind for the street cleaners - a sight most of us never see, care or even think about.

Anyway my son's AirAsia's flight from Kuching on Friday night was delayed (so what's new?) and by the time I met up with him at the bus terminal at KL Sentral and went back to the hotel with him, we were greeted with the most unexpected and unpleasant sight of Petaling Street with rubbish strewn everywhere. My son said that it resembles a war zone! It's a sight that got me thinking about people's disgusting littering habits and how much of the undesirable work in this world are carried out by people we never even have an inkling of, much less think about; and that we should be grateful for but are not.

Trust that the rest of your work week is pleasant and if you are sitting smugly higher up the pecking order, that you spare a thought for the little people who may have to sort out the messy aftermath of your inadvertent or unconscious callous actions. Some of you know exactly what I'm talking about; right Charlie?

Kuala Lumpur's Taxi Moral Police

posted by FH2o

The haji taxi driver and his sign.

I was a bit taken aback by this professionally printed sticker in the Kuala Lumpur taxi I took from Sental Station to get to my hotel.

My bahasa Malaysia is really terrible at best but it roughly translates as “Please Behave. Do not kiss/cuddle/fondle inside the taxi”. For those who have a better command of bahasa; please correct me if I am wrong - but I think I've got the gist of it.

This perhaps reflects either the loose morals of Malaysians these days or the growing intolerance of the Muslim on the behavior of others who are construed as being not as pious as them. But kissing is misbehaving? Road safety is a better reason if taxi drivers are voyeurs.

It’s just as sign, I am travelling alone and it provides fodder for me to blog about other than kayaking, skies and other lame stuff. Whatever. So just don't be too perturbed if you are a honeymooner who just got into taxi in Kuala Lumpur with a sign like this!

I think it’s a coping mechanism that we choose to see only what we want to see or believe. But I think we’re missing out a lot if we do not learn to open our eyes (mind and heart too) to the beauty and magic of this life. Yes, life can be beautiful - or well, at least the beautiful skies.

Beautiful SkiesIt's beautiful and timeless up here.Beautiful Skies

And I think that once we start to look for beauty; we’ll find it – even if we are cooped up inside a sardine packed budget airline flying several kilometers above the earth’s surface; with screaming babies, jaded flight attendants and sweaty passengers with bad BO ...

Beautiful Skies

So here are some of the pictures which I took on the flight back yesterday evening and which would be ho-hum to some people but are absolutely captivating and beautiful to me. Whatever; and have a productive and beautiful week ahead. And if you’ll excuse me; I’m going to grab some (beautiful) lunch now.

Wet & Dry In Kuala Lumpur

posted by FH2o

Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, MalaysiaWet Friday night in Kuala Lumpur Bukit Bintang area. 7 September 2007

I just came back from Kuala Lumpur after spending 3 days there. I managed to get all my things done (well almost as unfortunately I couldn't find the time to meet up with Agus!) but how I wished that it's a Sunday tomorrow so that I can catch my breathe somewhat. Unfortunately there's no such luxury as a busy Monday and work week awaits me. I sometimes wonder how I still manage to blog quite consistently somewhat despite my busy and demanding life. Perhaps I'll make as good as juggler as Chris Bliss? I think it's a matter of centering oneself, having a clarity about who we are and finding our balance in life. Whatever!

Life's in Black and White?

posted by FH2o

Kuching Holidays SkiesPeople who only see things in black and white and insist on it to be in writing first before they're prepared to do even the smallest of tasks; are probably missing out on a lot of joys in life ... *sigh*

Hopefully I'll get to see more of the blues and whites later when I'm in the air later.

And get this; as it is in black and white - "Have a great weekend ahead!" Be Well.

Reason Enough

posted by FH2o

Kuching HolidaysBeautiful weather, beautiful scenery, beautiful gal but bad timing! *sigh*

Kuching Skies
The above is reason enough why you should not ignore the tide tables and why you cannot argue with nature. And there are certain people that you should never waste your breathe on to argue with as their mind is as muddy and thick as slough! And thick is an understatement.

And this bring me to the point that the reason I may not blogging for the next few days (unless I find the time as well as easy internet access) is that I will be flying to KL again early tomorrow morning on a business trip and will only be back in Kuching on Sunday evening. I'll also be attending an education fair with my son on Saturday; which would be quite an adventure for him as this would be the first time that he’ll be flying out to KL alone. And which I had done so on purpose for him to spread his wings a bit. He'll be pretty much on his own next year and this is reason enough that he be given a little taste of what it'll be like to be doing things all on his own. This will happen sooner or later and I trust that it would not be too much of a slough for him then.

Claim Your Calm (Or lose Your Sanity)

posted by FH2o

In the midst of the noise of life; Buddy is a charming and calming presence in my life.
I managed this grab shot of his steady gaze while the rest of his body is swaying along with his wagging tail!

I had a particularly busy and pressurizing day at work exacerbated by a deadline and a panicky stressed out superior whose sanity peace is immediately shattered by his domineering superior. Some people sadly allow their fearful lives to be ruled by others. Perhaps they really lack consciousness do not know any better. *sigh*

Calm up in the skies and chaos here on earth. When will we ever learn?

Luckily all these hassles are immediately banished the instance I got home - calmed by the beautiful blue skies and soothed by the serenity and attention in Buddy's loving eyes. Trusting that your day had been productive and calm.

More Fun Than a Bottle of Scotch?

posted by FH2o

It had been raining almost the entire night before and the rain just managed to ease briefly when Azmi set off for Borneo Highlands on Monday morning with the 3 Scottish Errol, James and Johnny, who signed up for the Kuching Rainforest Kayaking Trip, whose spirits were not dampened in the least. Perhaps they had downed some good scotch spirits the night before?

Just take a look at the photographs of the splashing fun they had on a wet Monday! Sure beats sitting inside an office like I did. Darn!

Winnie together with her colleagues Jimmy and Roy from Pearl Holidays in West Malaysia are checking out the attractions of Kuching with Mr Sia, the ever affable Managing Director of local travel agency, Pin Sing Travel who promptly suggested that they get their feet wet by taking our rainforest kayaking trip on Sunday morning as one of the “must-do” adventure activity while visiting Kuching. Mr. Sia having been ‘baptised’ on earlier trips with us; is now quite an ‘expert’ paddler and wants to try all our other trips!

Winnie’s plucky eight years old son who tagged along was all excited and eager to get onboard the kayak with me even though it was going to be a short ‘sampler’ trip from Bengoh to Kg Danu. Except for Mr. Sia, this was their first kayaking experience ever and though they did not know what to expect; they were unexpectedly and pleasantly surprised at what a wonderful experience it was to be floating through the beautiful rainforests of Sarawak. And they as seasoned travel agents thought that they “had been and done it all already”. Well.

Roy & Jimmy - "Beats seating on a tour bus anytime!"

Winnie, Shaun, MM and NN had a great time and the experience now to show and share with the future guests of Pearl Holiday (M) Travel & Tour Sdn Bhd a wonderful kayaking adventure through the Sarawak rainforests in Kuching. They even asked me to issue them a certificate for having ‘conquered’ Sg Sarawak Kiri! Hmm.kayaking in borneo highlands

I won a Logo Design Competition!

Francis Ho Logo Winning Design Entry
Guess who won the logo design competition for the company's sports and recreation club? I guess this architect and the Head of Product Development knows how to design a thing or two. *Ahem*. Ah well; a logo at least!

But it's nice to know that they appreciate my design if not my sunset photos! Hmmm.

Design rationale:

· The circle represents harmony, unity and the universe with the man (or woman) in the center of it all.
· The circle is bisected into two by the human figure who is in motion representing play and recreation.
· The bisected circle is similar to the "Ying-Yang" (hence the lighter shade of green in the upper circle) representing the balance of work and sports/recreation. This is accentuated by the Red Circle which represents the human head.
· The colours chosen reflect the "official" colours in the Company's logo

Spectacular Saturday Sunset

posted by FH2o

Francis Ho Skies PhotographsDinner interrupted - by a spectacular sunset, 1 st September 2007

We were on the way out for dinner when the orange-red rays of the setting sun against the azure evening skies momentarily stunned us with one of the most spectacular display I'd seen for a while. I stopped the car several times along the way to capture this beautiful but fleeting moment.
Francis Ho Kuching Skies PhotographsJust another beautiful Kuching sunset!

I think it's in moments like this that so dazzle us that we give pause to our life and momentarily keep us in the here and now. Bathed in luminescence, a door seems to open up to us giving us a glimpse to another reality. A beautiful and peaceful reality. Perhaps a revelation to our true being which is lost perhaps forever in our egos of self importance, cleverness, greed and our meaningless busyness.

Francis Ho Kuching Skies PhotographsA glimpse into the infinite beauty of life on 1st September 2007 in Kuching.

I love spectacular sunsets and I always will. It's moments like this that I joyfully find myself lifted beyond the confines of the mundane and ordinary. Like when I'm on the waters alone - I become whole again. I hope that perhaps you now understand why I love the waters, trees, hills, clouds and skies; for I know where true peace, joy and beauty lies - even though they're glimpsed only momentarily. I know that it's always here but rarely witnessed but I'd been blessed with more than my share and which I had shared in my pics here now and on many other previous occasions. Have a beautiful Sunday tomorrow. Be at peace and be well.

Organic Living

posted by FH2o

I admire the people in Kuching who are committed to living an organic lifestyle as it is not that easy to find organic products here.

However with the advent of the internet-shopping, this has become a whole lot easier. LiveLifeOrganic is a great source for organic products such as for organic food, organic skin care, organic health products and even organic vitamins. Really.

The organic food available ranges from crackers to pastas while the organic skin care range includes shampoo, lotions, serum and toners. Organic vitamins include Vitamin A, B and multi-vitamins.

So it is now easier for you to get hold of organic health products to live life organically – even if you’re in Kuching!
