A Good Friday Paddle with Huey & Robin … in the Rain!

Huey and I were supposed to be in Batang Air for an Easter Expedition but the plan fell through. Huey was naturally disappointed as he was simply ‘dying’ to paddle for 3 days in a row after being 'cooped-up' in Singapore for 6 months without a decent paddle! So Robin, being the clever birdy that he is, (who made a last minute decision to come to lovely Kuching when his Bangkok plans also fell through!) suggested that to ‘release’ some of that pent-up desire; why not we go for a short paddle at the river by my house. And that we did after checking that the tide should be high enough for an easy put-in from the jetty by 3.30pm. The tide has not risen high enough by then so we decided to lower ourselves down the jetty. A slow rising tide is not going to delay our paddling plans any longer!

We had not gotten far when dark clouds loomed in the horizon but that did not discourage Huey as he has not come this far and not paddle! And so we paddled on in the rain. We reached Sungai Kuap and decided to ‘chill-out’ by sitting out in the middle of the wide river in the pouring rain and chatted! With the rain and the breeze, it soon became truly chilling and we decided to paddle back!

BTW, I love the last pic that Huey took of me with the camera held just above the water's surface. Oh! And yes the paddle this afternoon did took my mind off dolphins for a while! *wink*

We had heavy downpour in KL & Penang as well on Friday late evening..

Yeah.. yeah.. yeah... the last minute plan.... sometimes, it's better not to make any plan, a sudden/last minute plan usually works better, hehehe...

unfortunately Elmo's still missing but he has enough to do in Kuching to keep him occupied to not dwell too much on this. I'm picking him up later to join me to drop Huey off in some remote river for a full-day solo paddle through the rainforests!
Selba - wanna join Huey the commando-kayaker? ;)

Aiyo, this trip down the river is like swimming in the river. My kayak collected so much water that I could do my laundry on it.

But it is great, just take more Vit C.. and Ahhhh choo more!
